Buddhist Village Trust for Sri Lanka

BVTS has been a registered charity in the UK since 1992. The charity was formed by a group of Buddhist volunteers. BVTS is an independent, non-profit making, non-political organisation. The charity founders were concerned about the plight of the forgotten, impoverished villages in the remote parts of North Eastern Sri Lanka. In 2004 BVTS extended their mandate to include areas for projects in the south of Sri Lanka, during and after the Tsunami. Now the BVTS projects are located all over Sri Lanka wherever the need arises including more recently, Covid related projects. Today BVTS members come from different ethnic and religious backgrounds giving the charity an international flavour.
