In 2019 BVTS funded the development of a twenty-acre scrub land into a thriving paddy field in Pulmudai.
In 2020, at the request of the farmers in Kantalai, BVTS purchased and distributed plants for high cash crop (coconut, pomegranate, cashew, mango) as these farmers did not have paddy fields (rice crop) to give them an income.
Every child is entitled to an education and have the opportunity to receive it. This will enable them to escape the vicious cycle of poverty as well as access to some degree of equal opportunities. In Sri Lanka there is free education, but some children live in remote ill- equipped areas with great financial constraints. It is remarkable how a few of these children manage to get a place in a university, however lack of funds to sustain them deters them from making use of this opportunity.
BVTS was involved in Community Centre Projects for families who were victims of the 2004 Tsunami at Koholankala in Hambantota District. The major contribution came from the Tsunami Asian Fund in Nottingham with the balance from the BVTS.
